Mitsubishi, Car, Lancer

To Evolve or Not (THAT is the question!)

I've been thinking a lot lately about my dream car, the Lancer Evolution. In 2008 there is going to be a new model that looks more sporty than the previous Evos. Now, I'll admit, the older Evos look like suped up Tokyo Taxis, but they are the models that I fell in love with. So if given the option to buy an Evo I don't know which to go for: The new model that looks better to the majority of people or the older model which is quintisentially Evo. Of course there are benefits to buying a new car, but I just don't know.

Wikidick

You know, I really like Wikipedia. But there exists a flaw inherent to its design. That flaw becomes quite apparent when you're trying to read an article on the same-sex marriage law in Spain and you get a screen full of penis. So not what I wanted to see this morning.

In Event of Moon Disaster

So, I found this Wikipedia article this weekend entitled In Event of Moon Disaster. The title is fairly self explanatory. In the event that something had gone horribly wrong during the Apollo 11 mission, stranding Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon, there was a protocol that had to be followed.

I find this revelation to be both morbid and yet realistic. But what really bothers me, is that NASA had planned to end communication with the men before they died. Does anyone else find that a little sick? If they were alive at the time, perhaps it would be kind to let them say goodbye to their loved ones? Or even have someone talk to them and make them feel comfortable in their final hours?

Fortunately for us, this was the tragedy that was to never be.

And the Oscar goes to...

Just got done watching the 79th Academy Awards. A few comments.

First a foremost, "Go Ellen!" Billy Crystal's shoes will be forever hard to fill, but I think she did a great job. Of course, I am a bit biased.

So, The Departed won best film, director, and a slew of other awards. OK. I’ve seen The Departed. It was good. I would dare say that it was very good. Martin Scorcese is a genius. But was it really Academy Award winning material? Seriously folks. This is my biggest complaint about the Oscars. Not a year goes by where they don’t give out an award for their collective career rather than for the film at hand. Arg! Like I said, Scorcese is a genius and definitely deserves an Oscar, but that should have happened long ago. I wonder if he’s going to look at that Oscar and say, “I got that for The Departed and it was well deserved.” It’d be like Michelangelo getting snubbed for the Sistine Chapter and David, only to later win some contrived art award for some random sketch he did.

“Best Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Leading Role” were no-brainers. Forest Whitaker is the man.

I can’t say too much for the winners of “Best Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Supporting Role” as I haven’t seen Little Miss Sunshine or Dreamgirls. But I find Jennifer Hudson (of American Idol fame) winning interesting. Now, I still stand by my original assessment that the show is merely a Karaoke show. But I think this and Carrie Underwood winning at the CMAs and Grammys has really legitimized the show in my eye. But only in the sense that the show discovers talent; it does not create them.

Finally, how did Pan’s Labyrinth NOT win Best Foreign Film? That’s just an injustice.

Psychology, Stanley Milgram

Elementary my dear Watson...

OK!

I’m going to toss in my vote for Dean O’Dell’s murderer.

Mel Stoltz! The guy is a bully and gives me the grade A hee-bee jee-bees. I won’t discount the Dean’s wife being involved though. I just don’t think Landry had any major part in it though. That’s just way too easy. Y’know?

Of course I know I'm going to be wrong, just like every season of VM. They really need to give out more clues in the episodes preceding the big reveal.

One final thing. It’s good to see Keith wearing the uniform again, but Sheriff Lamb will be missed.

Random Thought #1

Sometimes I'll be talking to someone and start to think bad things about them in my mind. In these instances I try to drown the thoughts out with heavy metal music. You know, just incase they happen to be able to read minds.

Introductions

My name is Jordana. I have been known to be called Jo, Jordana, Fox, THE Fox, and Foxxy. Welcome to my Live Journal.

Before I go on with summing myself up, there is one thing I need to get out of the way. Contrary to typical livejournal users, I'm making this journal anti-friends only. What I mean by this is that I will not be inviting my current friends (those I have known for years, and have to physically deal with on a regular basis) to be reading this journal. A lot of my current friends tend to have preconceived notions about myself, and rather than have them read my entries and make decisions based on what they think they know, I would much rather have strangers give me unbiased comments and feedback (A bit of a social experiment if you will.) I know this may sound weird; preferring strangers to read my personal thoughts over people I have known for years, but that is the sort of strange anonymity I could live with. It's like a warm blanket. Of course, I am always eager to make new friends, and this in no way includes people I will be meeting via livejournal itself.

Anyway, as I said before, my name is Jordana. I was born and lived my long life of 18 years in Saratoga Springs. I have since moved to the Big Apple to attend college at New York University. I'm going for my undergraduate degree in Psychology. It's my second semester here and I still love it.

My hobbies include:
Watching TV. I watch a lot of TV, which I know isn't conducive to getting good grades, but I seem to manage anyway. Favorite shows include CSI, Lost, Heros, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, La Femme Nikita, South of Nowhere, Law & Order: SVU, and Desperate Housewives.

I have been doing yoga and Pilates for a while. I believe in taking care of one's body, but I'm not a freak about it. I believe in moderation, but sometimes I just like a good burger and a slab of Chocolate Raspberry Bavarian Cake.

I practiced Judo for a bit, but haven't really made an effort to continue it after moving to college. Still, I enjoyed it when I did do it.

I loooove cars. All cars. But especially import tuners. I have a white 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally with a 5 speed manual transmission. I would like to someday upgrade to an EVO though. Unfortunately, due to some circumstances that I won't get into, my baby for the most part makes its home back in Saratoga Springs, where I am sure it is being abused by my 16 year-old brother.

Well, that's me in a nut shell. Keep watching my journal and you can see me in an even bigger shell. And if one of my friends happens to discover this livejournal, then so be it. I guess your creepy stalking powers earn you the right to peep my journal. Of course you must realize that I will be forever weirded out since you actually googled my name.
